Romeo y Julieta cigars are one of the best known cigars in the world. The brand was first established in 1875, with its name being derived from one of William Shakepseare's most notable works, Romeo and Juliet. After being introduced, Romeo y Julieta cigars received numerous awards at various cigar tasting exhibitions. You might notice that these awards are still very much a part of the company's legacy and are still on display upon their logo.
One of history's most famous cigar aficionados, Sir Winston Churchill, was a strong advocate of Romeo y Julieta cigars. This is something the company has not forgotten, and their flagship vitola now bears his name. Although the cigars were originally produced in Cuba, production was moved to the Dominican Republic shortly after the revolution. Production of Romeo y Julieta cigars for the American market continues there to this day.
