Manuel Quesada has been making cigars since 1974. His original cigars were mild bodied, most of them a blend of Dominican filler and binder tobaccos cloaked with light Connecticut-seed wrappers. His latest endeavors are bolder, more vibrant smokes. The Casa Magna is his greatest innovation. He joined forces with Nicaragua's largest grower of cigar tobacco, Nestor Plasencia, and created this blend in Plasencia's Segovia Cigar factory.

Rated the #10 Best Cigar of the year 2011 with 92 points. Casa Magna Colorado cigars have been a hit for creators Manuel Quesada of the Dominican Republic and the Plasencia Family of Nicaragua since the robusto size was named Cigar Aficionado's Cigar of the Year in 2008. The superb smoke was also a tremendous value-retailing for all of $5 at the time-a cigar priced for the masses with a taste for connoisseurs. The Diadema size is a far larger, more ornate version of the robusto. The cigar is gorgeous, showcasing the rolling talents of Plasencia Cigars, a cigar factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, that looks like a church and was once known as Segovia. A fat, long stick with a pigtail tip twisted tight against its tapered head, it has a curved bottom that needs just a bit of a clipping to get going. The wrapper possesses a cold aroma of well-tanned leather. The cigar is loaded with cocoa bean, cedar and spicy notes that come together in balanced fashion, culminating in a savory, leathery finish. And while it's not the bargain of the robusto, you still get quite a bit of cigar for your money considering its size.
